Stormy Weather....

Here's a slice of a FemForce story penciled by Rock Baker and inked by myself. The guest in this tale is AC's futuristic heroine Stormy Tempest. A little Western action, a little futuristic action. What's not to like?

  1. Nice work Jeff and Co. Great Inking and pencils!

  2. I remember these pencils as the first ones I was really sort of proud of. Then I saw the inks and knew once again that on my own I'm, at best, a mediocre artist. Fantastic inks, Jeff, as always!

(Thanks for the praise for the pencils, Larry!)

  4. Need to proof that spelling on the newspaper headline on the last page. I'm too anal...

  5. Thanks for the kind words, folks. Rock, you're one of the more enjoyable pencilers I work with. Stop putting yourself down. Lon, I should've dropped that newspaper type in there via computer. I would've caught the errors if I had. Live and learn.

  6. Thanks, Jeff! But I stand by my claim that your inks are what bring those pages to life!

On the newspaper headlines; one of the things everyone aggrees I DON'T do well are letters (and spelling has been a handicap before -I'm from the Ozarks you see), so I was told to rough in the headlines and they'd be typed in with a computer program when it was being worded. Looking back, I should've left the page blank except for the picture.

  7. This is really cool, getting a chance to see some large scans of these inks without all the word balloons and captions overlaid. It would make a great poster book, a collection of pages like this in their raw form.

  8. I agree that would be a good thing to have out there. That kind of merchandising used to be around in the 70's. I still have the oversized EC story portfolios.

  9. Really nice stuff. Who or what is the hair-braid creature?

  10. I forget if it's an evil shaman or an evil spirit. Just call it evil and envy it's hair.

  11. I remember in the script it was called (I believe) "The Great She Spirit In The Sky" and was some Indian spirit that tormented Black Phantom with some mind games before dumping her into modern times. Funny thing is, once BP was no longer in the Old West, the spirit no longer seemed to have any interest in her. Those evil spirits, always starting something and then getting sidetracked by someting else!
